We do several other binding styles which are appropriate for different uses.

We do an album binding (good for photographs and sketchbooks) that uses aluminum posts.

We make books for 'sign-in' at art gallery openings or guest-books for weddings.

We also make books that use a Coptic Binding (like you see at left). These make good books for art-books because different types of paper, like watercolor paper, or block printing paper (Rives BFK) can be easily bound with this stitch.

At left is a close-up of the Coptic stitch binding. Unlike our Traditional Style bindings, the Coptic stitch is an 'exposed spine' style. It also opens flat for sketching use in the field.
Of course, all of our binding styles have been utilized for our Artist Books.

Artist Books are books that are hand-sewn just like our blank books but they are filled with content. Original illustrations, photographs, and writing are collated into an appropriate binding which is a part of the overall art. The books tell a story in both words and pictures.

The book you see at left and below is an example of an artist book.

The cover (left) has a wood-cut print on it and the pages (below) were sketches done with ink, and watercolor pencils.

More photos of Artist's Books will be on this site eventually - please check back!

We have exhibited Artist's books in Wexford Ireland - http://www.wexfordartscentre.ie
